Youth:
An early view of technology
Born in 1965, Hugo grew up at a time when computers were still a rarity. At the age of 13, he got his first real introduction to IT on a PDP-8 (A computer with 4KB of memory for 30! users) via a teletype (a terminal with a printer instead of a screen). While his peers were busy playing games, Hugo was already writing code and storing programs on paper tapes.
His early experiences - Hugo lived on Long Island in the U.S. - gave him not only fluency in English, but also a unique, global perspective on technology. This youthful curiosity eventually led to his keen, critical attitude toward IT as we know it today. Hugo understands the pitfalls of IT because he was there from the beginning - which makes him the expert you need for real solutions.

From computer enthusiast to IT pioneer
After a brief flirtation with engineering physics, Hugo found his true passion in IT performance. In data communications, he learned the fundamentals of programming and efficiency, but it wasn't until 1999, when he specialized in IT performance, that everything came together.
Hugo saw three fundamental problems in the IT world: poor measurement methodology with low data quality, fancy dashboards without the proper support to find root causes, and an excessive focus on technology instead of real business problems. His accuracy and deep knowledge made him the go-to expert for problems no one else could solve.
In 2009, during a camping vacation in Sweden, Hugo realized it was time for a revolution in the IT world. The idea for Sciante was born: a company dedicated to finding and structurally solving the root causes of IT problems.
